Chaga is found in the wild growing on birch trees in cold regions such as Siberia, northern Canada, Alaska, and some northern parts of the United States. Chaga, also known as Inonotus obliquus, is not technically a mushroom but rather a dense sterile mass (sclerotia) of birch wood fibre and mycelium.
